Centreforce Canarias A NEW SOUND FOR TENERIFE
London Calling Podcast Yana Bolder
DJ Chris Paul emerged from the 80’s UK soul circuit. Riding the wave of Brit Funk, he had his first TV performance on solid Soul 1986 with Expansions 86 ft David Joseph.
1987 and the birth of Acid House brought an invitation to run what was to become the legendary Friday nights at Camden Palace.
Orange was to become one of London’s most prolific and successful raves.
1988 Chris toured Germany with Africa Bambaata.
In 1992 with an overflowing 20,000 members, Chris Paul infamously paraded the Orange Raves branding on an unsuspecting BBC’s TOTPs with Isotonik – Different Strokes. Although it was “Everywhere I Go” and “Hasta La Vista” which revelled on the rave scene as classic hardcore anthems.
Orange was bursting at the seams with thirsty ravers and soon expanded into the Rocket, Astoria and Breakfast Club and the almighty Hippodrome.
Signed to FFRR Chris was a part of DNA, Kikman productions and was involved in many other rave anthems as producer or remixer with friends including Hype & Grooverider and working alongside Pete Tong, Oakenfold & Orange headliner Carl Cox.
Having promoted and played at over 700 Orange events Chris found further success in LA landing in Hollywood. He fast took hold of the scene working with Ice -T and forming DnB act “Stolen Identity” he worked the main Hollywood / LA clubs 5 nights a week.
He has a discography as long as a shopping list; labels include EMI and Tommy Boy with current new releases with an authentic Old School hardcore flavour on Kniteforce Records.
Chris woke the Orange lion during lockdown on free Live streams to many of the original members. Orange is set to reenergise the resurgence of our beloved Acid House / rave scene.
