Peter P

Background

Peters DJ journey began at the tender age of 15 as a guest at The Regency Suite in 1981 spinning Northern Soul. His sets soon earned him a residency every Friday night. He used this platform to gain recognition on the scene and soon had his own night in the West End of London named The Soulfull Shack.

Many bookings soon followed and Peter P was a regular DJ on the scene.

The years that followed saw him diversify and start playing at many soul and rare groove nights around East London and the West End. He played at many weekenders up and down the UK spinning the vinyl.

In 1986 the beats began to get faster and House music began to rear its head, he recalls these times fondly, “I can remember seeing DJ Froggy mixing and being fascinated, I soon purchased my own decks at home and began practising mixing disco and jazz funk . House music was now evolving and I was starting to mix it into disco sets transitioning between the different genres”
1988/89 boom, House music exploded and all the sub genres started evolving, Peter P embraced the scene and played at many raves both here in the UK and across Europe.

The next two decades saw him play across the world and start to pop up on various radio platforms STOMP, House FM and Unknown FM, playing a variety of genres mixing and blending. During this time he was also a DJ for StreetSounds records as well as residencies in London, Bali, Spain and Greece.

In his own words Peter P says “I was always a fan of Centreforce in 1989 and when they came back on air I secured weekly shows, the interaction was amazing and it was good to become part of the family. It was a great journey from pirate to legal and there has been some amazing events. Now the station is going from strength to strength with a great variety and array of DJs and artists its a privilege to be part of the DJ & management team, many thanks to Pasha & Master Pasha for making it all happen”
